Miss Netherlands 2023 is a transgender woman by the name of Rikkie Valerie Kolle. This marks the first time in 94 years that a biological male won the title of Miss Netherlands. Kolle will continue on to compete in the Miss Universe competition. The owner of the overall competition is Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, who is also a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman. Many people on the left view such progression of transgender women into historically female-only pageants as a good thing. Others think that this is unfair and simply an intrusion of men into women’s spaces.
