NYC Muslim Migrants Say Food During Ramadan Was Unacceptable

Some of the Muslim migrants in NYC homeless shelters complained about the lack of proper halal food during Ramadan. Halal food is considered anything permissible under Islamic law. Basic examples of foods not permitted under Islam or “haram” would be pork and alcohol. Haram foods must also be prepared specifically to be permissible for Muslim consumption. Advocates for the migrants said that the only actual halal meals were vegetarian options because all vegetables are technically halal. Such a complaint is seen as a slap in the face to many NYC taxpayers due to the $350,000 daily price tag that feeding migrants generates.
