Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy has revealed what he believes to be the true reason he was ousted last year. He places the blame squarely on Matt Gaetz due to a still-pending ethics investigation. The allegation against Gaetz is that he paid an underage girl for sex in Florida. One of Gaetz’s associates has already been sentenced to prison over the same situation. The DOJ has signaled that they won’t prosecute Gaetz for the underage allegations. However, there is still a pending lawsuit and an ongoing House ethics investigation. McCarthy made the statement during an interview on C-SPAN with Mo Elleithee.
