President Trump Signs Order Banning Paper Straws On A Federal Level

President Trump has signed an order banning the use of paper straws in the Federal Government in favor of plastic. The order targets the Biden Administration policy that banned the purchase of single-use plastics on a Federal level. The Biden Admin ban would have been phased in over a period of years with a completion date of 2035.

Environmentalists say that 500 million straws are consumed in the country on a daily basis. They are probably not thrilled with Trump’s reversal of Biden’s policy. Trump spoke about the order while signing it on Monday. “I don’t think that plastic is going to affect the shark very much as they’re eating, as they’re munching their way through the ocean,’’ Trump said at a White House announcement.
