Target has joined several other corporations in the United States by dismantling their DEI programs. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion became very popular in 2020 after the death of George Floyd. Target is being singled out due to their headquarters being in Minneapolis, the site of the Floyd incident. In 2020, Target was very adamant about supporting the “Justice For George Floyd” movement with unapologetic statements praising the efforts of protesters. Now, less than five calendar years later, the retail giant is backing away from this stance. This news comes on the heels of President Trump announcing the ending of DEI programs on a Federal level.
