President Trump asked a reporter if she worked for a Chinese owned company during a White House press briefing after a string of pro-China, pro-Beijing statements. She said she works for a privately owned company based out of Hong Kong called Phoenix TV.
Some in the mainstream media labeled Trump as a racist for asking the question, maybe even a moron because they thought he didn’t know where Hong Kong is geographically.
But it turns out that the company isn’t so “privately-owned” and is in large part owned by the Chinese Communist Party. The COO of Phoenix TV is a former CCP “journalist.” A Beijing-controlled company called “China Mobile” also has a large stake in the company.
