Former President Donald Trump gave a live, immediate reaction to being indicted for the third time in five months. He was arraigned at a court in Washington D.C. on charges related to the January 6th riot. These charges are the second set brought about by Special Counsel Jack Smith. The first brought about by Smith related to the classified documents found at Mar-A-Lago. Trump and his allies have long said that these charges are politically motivated due to establishment politicians and news media wanting to supplant him as the overall frontrunner in the 2024 Presidential Election. President Trump stated that this is a “sad day in America” in reference to how the Department of Justice has been politicized to bend to the will of the Biden Administration. He also commented on Washington D.C.’s utter state of disrepair, calling the District “filthy.”
