Attorney General Merrick Garland announced an antitrust lawsuit against Apple over its becoming a monopoly power. The issue at hand is the Apple ecosystem, which makes it difficult for consumers to switch from iPhone or Mac computers to an alternative. Everything from the text messaging system to the inner workings of payment processing is proprietary to Apple on its devices. CEO Tim Cook says the lawsuit is anti-business and makes it difficult for Apple to innovate. 15 states and Washington, D.C., are in on the lawsuit against the trillion-dollar corporation in hopes that they will adopt more consumer-friendly practices.
