After nearly five years, infamous WikiLeaks whistleblower Julian Assange has been freed from a UK prison. This puts an end to a saga that started in 2010. Assange is accused of publishing US military secrets on the website he founded, WikiLeaks. One of the first “leaks” came from Chelsea Manning, who was known as Bradley Manning at the time. Assange also helped whistleblower Edward Snowden evade US capture after whistleblowing on the NSA. The United States Government saw Assange as a criminal who released top-secret military information. In contrast, others saw him as a whistleblower and hero who shed light on the corruption and crimes of the Government.
