A woman has sued New York City over being assaulted by a transgender inmate at Riker’s Island Jail. The alleged incident took place in 2022. The victim alleges the inmate who attacked her falsely posed as transgender to gain access to the women’s facility. In an interview, with her identity concealed, the victim said the inmate immediately disclosed his “impostor” status to her and other inmates as soon as the guards left upon his arrival. The woman, who only identified as “Rose Doe,” said she alerted staff of the man’s impostor status but was ignored.
