A woman only known as “Jane Doe” has been captured on an audio recording denying Jay-Z’s involvement in an alleged assault case against her. Jane Doe previously stated that Sean “Diddy” Combs (also known as Puff Daddy) and Sean “Jay-Z” Carter assaulted her in the year 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. The woman claims she was 13 years old at the time. There was a lawsuit filed against Jay-Z and Puff that she voluntarily withdrew in February of this year. Jay-Z, however, is not satisfied with the lawsuit being dropped as he is now pursuing a defamation lawsuit against the woman and her attorney, Tony Buzbee.
Private investigators allegedly showed up at the doorstep of Jane Doe asking questions about Jay-Z. To some, this move proves that Jay-Z attempted to intimidate the person into silence. Others say that this is good investigative work prompted by a frivolous lawsuit by a known ambulance chaser in Tony Buzbee. Buzbee has other lawsuits against Puff which all came about after his arrest and imprisonment.
Tony Buzbee was also at the center of the Deshaun Watson drama. He brought 10 of the 24 women who accused Watson of harassment to a Cleveland Browns football game after they settled. There are also other lawsuits against Puff that do not include Tony Buzbee as a lawyer, but they include other celebrities. Comedian “Druski” was recently named in a Puff lawsuit for an incident that happened in 2018. Druski says that this was not possible because he was a broke person sitting on his mother’s couch without any fame at that time.
