World Health Organization Ends COVID-19 Global Health Emergency

The World Health Organization has officially announced that the COVID-19 global emergency has come to an end. The decision may have little effect on nationwide policies around the world due to already loosening restrictions. Governments have noticed that the pandemic has long ago reached its peak and is no longer the severe health risk that it was in the early stages.

This announcement comes over three years after the global emergency was first declared. “It is with great hope that I declare Covid-19 over as a global health emergency,” said the W.H.O. director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. However, the W.H.O. still asserts that COVID-19 still poses a global health risk. Variants of the virus are still occurring and people still die from the virus, according to the heavily maligned health organization.
