Major news outlets have reported that four Americans from South Carolina were kidnapped in Matamoros, Mexico. One of the Americans was traveling to Mexico for a medical procedure, most likely cosmetic surgery. Early reports say that the Americans may have blown past a cartel “checkpoint” by mistake. This could have caused the cartel to actually open fire on the white minivan that they were driving in. Two of the Americans died, and one is in critical condition.
