Arrest Made In 1996 Killing Of World-Famous Rapper Tupac Shakur

Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been arrested by Las Vegas Police over the 1996 shooting of Tupac Shakur. The arrest comes nearly two months after police raided Davis’s wife’s home in nearby Henderson, Nevada. Reports say that police recovered bullets from the home but the bullets did not match what they were looking for. An arrest 27 years after the death of one of the most popular rappers of all time is perplexing to those without knowledge of the case. However, once the finer details of the case are placed into context, this late arrest makes sense… sort of.

The story of what happened to Tupac and the people involved is no mystery to the police or, for that matter, to much of the general public. Death Row artist Trevon Lane was jumped by Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson (unrelated) and his people in July 1996 for his Death Row pendant and chain necklace. Baby Lane was from South Side Crips and Death Row was affiliated with Mob Piru Bloods.

Death Row members including Tupac spotted Baby Lane in Vegas at a Mike Tyson Fight in September 1996 by himself and they decided to jump him. Footage of the fight is available online. The video shows Tupac stomping on Anderson in the middle of a lobby. Three hours later, Baby Lane and other Southside Crips, including his uncle “Keefe D” perform a drive-by shooting on Tupac, killing him.

Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson was murdered in 1998 in a gang-related shooting. This is the reason why he was never sent to prison for shooting Tupac. Anderson’s uncle, Keefe D, has been talking about the incident openly on podcasts for many years now. This is the most likely reason why he was arrested. He provided the police with enough evidence to incriminate himself.
