A new video of the rooftop where Michael Thomas Crooks attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump has been released. The footage shows officers and other personnel on the roof just after the shooting had taken place. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, can be seen in the background of the video lying in a pool of blood. The shooter was somehow able to ride a bicycle near the scene and affix a five-foot ladder to the edge of the building to climb on top. He also obtained a drone and flew it before the rally to scope the area out.
Secret Service and local police saw Crooks long before he got on the roof. Once he was positioned in the spot where he ultimately shot President Trump, local police confronted him. The officer was quickly shooed away when Crooks pointed his rifle at the approaching officer, causing him to slip and fall off of the roof. The shooter took his shot at Trump almost immediately after the officer encounter, but he had been on the roof for at least 2-3 minutes prior.
