Former NBA player Jontay Porter, brother of Michael Porter, Jr., may end up in prison over the betting scandal he was involved in. The specific charges have not been laid out, but it is safe to say that he may be facing the same allegations of fraud as the other four people involved. The general gist of this scheme was revealed to the public in March. Porter allegedly got himself into trouble over a gambling debt that he could not pay. NBA players make a lot of money, but they sometimes tend to spend a lot. A solution was planned to take care of his debt. He was to stay below the “under” bet during his games, so he could not achieve statistics above specific numbers. This allowed bettors with inside knowledge of what was happening to wager big on Porter. This, of course, is not permitted, and it was flagged as suspicious. An investigation was launched, and the dirty laundry behind the scenes tumbled out. Now, quite a few men are facing time in prison.
