At least four people have died in Alabama after they participated in the viral “boat jump” TikTok challenge. The challenge involves people riding at pretty decent speeds on the water in a boat while people literally jump off. Local police say that some of the challenge participants broke their necks as soon as they hit the water, which killed them instantly. Many of the people who are attempting this challenge are young, but it is not an exclusively “young person” thing. There have been other challenges on TikTok resulting in tragedy and/or loss of life, such as the “Benadryl challenge.” All of this news comes on the heels of the United States Government mulling over a possible decision to ban the Chinese-owned social media platform on a federal level.
