Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has finally spoken out on the 2022 Oscars slap incident. Comedian Chris Rock was hosting the annual awards show, and, as he had done in the past, he had a few jokes for the crowd. Rock cracked a joke about Jada’s bald hairstyle, comparing her to G.I. Jane. Initially, Will Smith laughed at the joke as did most of the crowd. Jada, however, rolled her eyes. She did not appreciate the joke. This may have triggered Will, turning his laughter into anger. Will got on stage and slapped Chris Rock. Will Smtih proceeded to curse at Chris from his seat.
Jada Pinkett Smith hasn’t said much of anything about the incident until now. Conveniently, she is selling a book. This appears to be an attempt at capitalizing on the drama surrounding the couple. She told NBC in an exclusive interview that she was completely shocked by the slap. Furthermore, since they had been separated for six years at that point, she was shocked to hear him refer to her as his wife.
