White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and Dr. Anthony Fauci cannot agree on if the pandemic is over or not. And actually, Fauci himself appears to be very confused about this question. Psaki was asked about it during a White House Press Briefing. She said that the pandemic is not over yet and did not waste many words answering the question. Anthony Fauci, on the other hand, was asked about it in a television interview with PBS News Hour. He first said that it is “unknowable” to say that the pandemic is over with. A few moments later, Fauci said that the “pandemic phase” is over – meaning we are not in the “emergency” part of the pandemic.
Fauci’s answer seems to conflict with itself and it also conflicts with what Jen Psaki said. One would think that these two front-facing figures would have some sort of communication over a very important thing like the virus. Especially since they work under the same administration. But it is clear that there is at least a little bit of miscommunication going on. If their message is one that Americans are supposed to receive and believe, then that’s going to be a tall order considering the very people giving the message appear confused about it.
