President Joe Biden was given an honorary doctorate at the HBCU (black college) Howard University as part of his commencement speech. The speech was about 20 minutes and it was heavily political. Everything from transgender children to illegal aliens was mentioned. The political nature of the speech was expected due to his upcoming reelection bid. The President got a warm reception from the crowd, which was sort of a head-scratcher. His approval rating in the black community is down by a reported 30 percentage points.
Biden received quite a bit of criticism from conservative voices due to his previous comments and current policy decisions. He famously said “if you have trouble figuring out if you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black” during The Breakfast Club alongside host Charlamagne Da God. He also stated “poor kids are just as smart as white kids” during a random talk somewhere. The list of his racially charged “gaffes” is never-ending. Biden is not the first person thought about when it comes to racial sensitivity.
