Miguel A. Nunez, Jr., the lead actor in the movie “Juwanna Mann” told TMZ that a sequel to the film is in the works. The movie was about a man who was permanently suspended from professional men’s basketball, which is equivalent to the actual NBA. In order for him to play again, he came up with the bright idea to pose as a woman and play against the women in their league. Such an idea was a totally foreign and comedic concept when the film came out, which was over 20 years ago in 2002.
In today’s day and age, the concept of biological men posing as women to play against biological women is not even uncommon although it is not widely accepted. The key difference between the movie and the current reality is that “Juwanna Mann” was pretending to be a woman and nobody knew that he was really a male. Nowadays, obvious biological men simply identify as women and they are allowed to compete against biological women. Trans men exist as well, meaning biological women who identify as men. However, that particular group of trans people never seems to try and compete against biological men in sports.
