Presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Walz was in office during the George Floyd riots that rocked his state in 2020. He was heavily criticized for not doing enough to calm the situation. It took Walz three days to summon the National Guard. This decision took place long after destructive riots began to destroy parts of Minneapolis. Walz is seen as an “attack dog” who will pretty much do whatever the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer tell him to do. He has also made sympathetic comments to the causes of socialism and communism.
Reports from Washington say that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was the frontrunner to become the VP pick. His likelihood of becoming the VP was questioned after issues about his Jewish background were raised. CNN contributor Van Jones says that Tim Walz was selected, at least in part, to satisfy the anti-semitic wing of the Democratic Party that has grown exponentially ever since the Israel / Palestine conflict.
