Donald Trump has responded to treasonous allegations against General Mark Milley stemming from Trump’s time in office. According to Bob Woodward’s new book “Peril”, Milley took steps to prevent Trump from going “rogue” after January 6th. Milley allegedly spoke to high-ranking military officials and told them to refuse any orders from or by way of Trump unless Milley is in the room. There is also an allegation that Milley called China’s military at least twice and assured them that he would warn them if Trump planned an attack on them.
Needless to say, these are very serious allegations. It may not be completely proper to label what Milley is accused of as “treason” but that looks like the best way to describe it. What other word is there to encapsulate actions from a high-ranking General that could put his own country in jeopardy? This is adjacent to the Paul Revere “The British Are Coming” moment. Milley may feel justified in his actions to “protect the Republic”. Is it truly about protecting the United States or simply trying to remove control from the President? Not only does that sound treasonous, but it also sounds like a coup.
President Trump did not mince words when it came to his rebuke of General Milley. The most obvious point Trump made is that he was always a peaceful President. As a matter of fact, Trump is the first president in decades to not start any new conflicts. Mainstream media and the political establishment (same thing) apparently did not like having a peaceful president. Trump did his absolute best to maintain diplomatic relations with Kim Jong-Un, Vladimir Putin, and Xi Jinping. What did the media do in response? They labeled him a fool for speaking to the North Korean leader and a puppet for being friendly with the Russian leader. They didn’t have much to say about Xi Jinping, though. Maybe they got the same memo Mark Milley got.
