Paul Pelosi, the husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, was violently assaulted in a home invasion. The incident occurred in their San Francisco, California home. Nancy was away from the home along with her secret service detail at the time. Local police say that the invasion was targeted and not random. The suspected assailant, who is in custody, broke into the home at around 2:30 am on Thursday morning. The suspected attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer. Paul is expected to make a full recovery with no lasting damage. San Francisco has seen a sharp uptick in crime as of late due to “defund the police” policies that have swept the Golden State. SF police have reported double-digit increases in homicide (17%), larceny thefts (21%), and thefts from vehicles (39%) in 2021 over 2020.
