Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton was involved in an altercation at his 7-on-7 youth football tournament in Atlanta. Newton is from Atlanta and throws these events to give back to his community. This appears to be an escalation of confrontation toward the MVP quarterback he experiences repeatedly at these events. A video featuring Newton and a disrespectful young man went viral three years ago. The young man called Cam “broke” and a “free agent.” NFL Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe commented on the consistent disrespect, saying that Cam is better than he is to continue to put up with it. Now, the hatred toward Newton has escalated into a physical altercation. Standing at 6’5 and close to 260 pounds, Newton was apparently not injured.
