Republican Nikki Haley previously went on record to defend illegal aliens and asylum seekers. She said that it was inappropriate to “disrespect” them. Her comments come from a resurfaced 2015 clip at the Aspen Institute. The GOP Presidential hopeful went on to say that it’s not right to categorize them as criminals. She says they have hearts like everyone else; many are just trying to find a better life.
Haley’s comments are confusing when juxtaposed with her previous comments about deporting illegal immigrants if she wins the 2024 presidential election. If it is inappropriate to refer to illegal aliens as criminals, then how would they receive the criminal penalty of deportation? Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson refers to Nikki Haley as a puppet for the Democratic Party. Judging her from recent flip-flopping comments, Tucker may be correct.
