NYC Squatting Victim Gives Tour Of The Damage Done To Her Home

Adele Andaloro, a victim of squatting in New York City, gave news cameras a tour of her home after she regained access to it. Squatters took over her home two months ago and transformed it into a hotel. Andaloro says each of her rooms was rented out to individual people and/or families. They kept mini-fridges and space heaters in their rooms. There was damage to walls, general cleanliness, and a smell of cigarette smoke in the house. Things could have been much worse as some squatters completely destroy the home before eviction.

Andaloro was arrested last month for trying to keep squatters out of her Queens home. ABC News 7 captured a video of the arrest, and it went viral. Her arrest and subsequent fallout from large portions of the general public may have led to the New York State government passing an anti-squatter law. Legal experts say the law has a long way to go, but it is better than nothing.
