Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill into law that bans the practice of “squatting.” Squatting has become an issue all over the nation, especially since methods of successfully pulling it off are routinely shared on social media. There have been countless homes “temporarily” stolen due to this practice. A recent case of squatting involved the dismemberment of the homeowner’s body. Needless to say, this has gotten out of control. The law in Florida allows police to immediately remove people from a home under certain circumstances. If the person (or people) entered a home illegally, if they were told to leave, and if they are not actual tenants with a lease, then the police are allowed to remove them without the red tape of having to go through what could be an expensive and lengthy court process of eviction.
