Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill after she was arrested on charges relating to elder abuse. Hill is accused of taking advantage of a 96-year-old woman in her district to fund a variety of things. The paperwork on Hill alleges she stole $100,000 from the elderly woman’s savings, racked up $10,000 on her credit cards, and had her cosign for a home without her knowledge. Hill allegedly used the stolen money to purchase frivolous vanity items like perfume, a hotel room in Miami for New Year’s Eve, intravenous vitamin treatments, and a facelift. DeSantis says that if she is convicted, she is out, but if acquitted, she can return.
