Somalia Sent Untrained Runner To World University Games In China

Somalia sent an untrained runner to the World University Games in China and video of the fiasco has gone viral all over the internet. The female runner clocked in at the slowest time ever recorded for the 100 meter race at over 20 seconds. This placed her laughably far behind all other competitors. The chairwoman of Somalia’s national athletics federation, Khadija Aden Dahir, has been suspended as a result of the embarrassing debacle. Rumor has it that the untrained runner, 20-year-old Nasra Abukar, is the niece of Dahir. This would mean this incident was simply the product of outright corruption and nepotism. The Somali Ministry of Youth and Sports denounced this alleged connection through an official statement.
