A Southwest Airlines flight headed to Tampa, Florida, flew only 150 feet above the ocean in yet another scary incident of this type in the past few months. A similar scenario unfolded just one month ago in Oklahoma, where the plane descended dangerously low before landing. Just before that, another plane flew just a few hundred feet above the water, heading toward Hawaii. Terrified passengers recorded scenery out of the window and contacted family as some of them feared this may be their last time alive.
The planes in question should have been nearly 2,000 feet above the ground during the descent to the airport. The Empire State Building is a little shorter than that height. However, the airplane headed to Tampa was above the ocean at the height of a water tower. Anyone standing outside would have been able to see everything under the plane in total and complete detail. It is not yet known what’s causing the problem, but the planes are all Boeing. Boeing has had a checkered track record regarding quality control as of late.
