Stacey Abrams Snubs Joe Biden Voting Rights Speech In Georgia

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams snubbed President Joe Biden when he delivered a recent voting rights speech in Georgia. Abrams has been a very vocal proponent of voting rights in the Peach State. She has cited issues with voting that Republicans have caused that led up to her defeat against Brian Kemp. Abrams has also been a proponent of black community issues, chief among them being the right to vote. Since Joe Biden is a Democratic Party ally to who she essentially gave Georgia, one would think that she’d continue to support him. That did not happen.

The official response from Stacey Abrams’s team is that there was a scheduling conflict. Joe Biden repeated the same line. This excuse doesn’t make much sense considering the fact that the event in question was crafted perfectly for Stacey Abrams. She does not have a husband or any children and family were not specifically mentioned as the reason why she declined to show up for the President’s speech. One obvious reason for Abrams’s absence that stands out here is Biden’s unpopularity. If Biden were up well over 50% in approval rating, then Abrams most likely shows up. But since he’s hovering around 40% approval (and falling) she was probably advised to stay away from his sinking ship.
