Staten Island NYC Residents Arrested Over Blocking Bus Full Of Migrants

Staten Island NYC residents were arrested over attempting to block a bus full of migrants headed to a makeshift shelter. At least 10 residents of the largely working-class New York City borough were arrested by NYPD over the incident. There have been several protests of the same type over the past few months. This most recent dustup happened over a nursing home being used as a migrant shelter. The protests began months back when a church was used for the same reasons.

This mass arrest even comes on the heels of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, Jerry Nadler, and others being shouted down by protesters outside of The Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. The politicians were attempting to downplay the severity of the migrant crisis while, at the same time, trying to ask for federal dollars to help the crisis. Which, of course, makes no sense. Their constituents alerted them to that fact, among other things.

New York City has taken in over 110,000 migrants since the start of the crisis under the Biden administration. It is costing the city billions of dollars. NYC Mayor Eric Adams had to cut all services funding by 15% to make up for the budget shortfall the migrant influx has caused.
