The Biden administration announced that the Student Loan Relief program will come to an end on February 1st, 2022. The program has lasted for the better part of a year or more. Its objective was to give payors time to catch up on bills by allowing them to essentially defer student loan payments during the pandemic. This program is not to be confused with debt forgiveness which is an entirely different issue altogether. Many Democrats want the administration to extend the student loan moratorium, but there are no plans to do so. There is also no plan to follow through on one of Biden’s key campaign promises, the aforementioned student loan debt forgiveness.
