Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on RICO (racketeering) charges in Georgia. Trump and 18 other people have been named in a 97-page, 41-count indictment over allegations of attempting to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis held a midnight press conference early Tuesday morning, late Monday night to discuss the indictment. Her appearance felt like an emergency cleanup. One word to discuss the entire process up until this point would be “chaotic.”
The full indictment was “accidentally” published on Reuters Monday morning. It was almost immediately taken down from Reuters and Georgia’s official legal website simultaneously. Georgia’s State Government issued a statement saying that the leak was some sort of glitch and that it was fictitious. This may have caused the jury to rush and push forward the indictment of Trump and others as they were originally scheduled to convene on Tuesday, not Monday. This may be the reason why Fani Willis appeared late Monday night instead of at the close of business on Tuesday.
