President Donald Trump held a rally in the South Bronx, a famously impoverished area of New York City, on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. An estimated 30,000 people filled a park in an area locals call “the hood.” US House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York Governor Kathy Hochul were not too happy about the rally. AOC stated that Trump only held the rally in the Bronx because of the court cases that have a “legal version of an ankle bracelet” attached to his leg. Kathy Hochul said that Trump was bringing his “clowns” to the circucs of a rally. Hochul was referring to all Trump supporters.
The idea of an all-white and so-called “racist” audience of people who attend Trump rallies was visibly disproven in the Bronx. People of all ages and ethnicities were there and it was a great time for all. Rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hollow were introduced on stage by Trump. Regular citizens in the crowd gave their testimony of their voting patterns and feelings about the current state of NYC and the country. Trump was able to bring all sorts of people, many of whom were native to New York, to the rally. Even CNN had to admit that the crowd size was bigger than they anticipated in the deep-blue Bronx.
