It has sparked a conversation about cultural appropriation and what hairstyles are appropriate for each race to wear. However, the conversation appears to be based on something that is completely fake and staged to generate attention.
The white woman in question is a big time social media influencers with hundreds of thousands of followers. She has dozens of videos on her social media where she interviews black people in poor areas about her braids. It looks like she was searching for a person to give her a negative reaction so she could become a victim and capitalize off of the views such a video is sure to generate.
The problem of “rage bait” is real and it exists all over the internet. Many people believe that fake and staged videos are real. The problem has become so common that it is difficult to tell the difference between what is real and what is fake online.
