At least 14 people were shot at a funeral in Chicago on Tuesday, June 21st, 2020. Most of the victims are female and their ages range from 21 to 65. As of about 12 noon on Wednesday, June 22nd there are no suspects in custody. The shooting comes amidst the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, rejecting help from the Federal Government to help curb the 51% uptick in shootings in her city.
The funeral was for a 31-year-old male shooting victim. Police were notified of a potential retaliatory strike, so a squad car was assigned to the funeral. Some attendees of the funeral also had their own guns and shot back at the mass shooter. But even with all of the “security” measures in place, at least 14 people were shot. Luckily, none of the victims have died, yet.
