Black Lives Matter (BLM) co-founder Patrisse Cullors is currently building a $35,000 dollar wall and security system around her $1.4 million dollar Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles home. The system will feature a prominent wooden fence surrounding the perimeter of her home, which is built into the slope of a hill. There will also be an electronically-controlled gate system with concrete bollards as well as security cameras.
News of the expensive new system comes amid controversy over Cullors’ employment with Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation. She has since resigned from her post at that organization but denies that it was due to controversy. Cullors says she was planning on moving beyond BLMGNF for at least a year to focus on her television and book deals. The reason Cullors left BLMGNF actually underlines the controversy rather than the employment with BLMGNF itself.
The issue of hypocrisy is the elephant in the room. People like Patrisse Cullors and supporters of Black Lives Matter consistently rail against the idea of a wall on the Southern Border. These very same people have no problem with celebrities like Barack Obama and Cullors having very expensive gates, walls, security cameras, and armed guards on their properties. It was also revealed that Cullors paid the $1.4 million-dollar price tag for the Topanga Canyon home in cash through one of her many corporate entities. Again, the hypocrisy is astounding. This, however, is par for the course when it comes to social justice groups. They say whatever makes the cash register ring.
