San Francisco Offers Millions In Reparations To Black Residents

San Francisco residents lined up at a city board meeting to express their support for a reparations plan that calls for (at least) hundreds of millions in payouts. The plan was drawn up by the SF African American Reparations Advisory Committee after two years of work. Some details of the proposal include payments of $5 million each for black residents of the city, $97,000 of universal basic income for 250 years, and houses for $1 for black families. There is no framework to actually pay for the plan if it goes into effect. However, an economic group says that it would take $600,000 per non-black family in San Francisco to fund the plan.
