Biology Professor Allegedly Fired For Teaching XY Chromosomes Determine Sex

A biology professor says he has been fired due to his lesson where he taught about X and Y chromosomes defining sex. Johnson Varkey taught at St. Philip’s Community College in San Antonio for 20 years before the alleged incident. On November 28th, 2022, Varkey taught about the human reproductive system. Obviously, such a lesson must involve the basic biology of X and Y chromosomes producing male and female genders. Several students walked out during the lesson which may have sparked the initial complaint against Varkey. The college then accused him of “religious preaching”… due to simply teaching biology.
