Popular radio show host DJ Envy is the center of attention after his business associate, Cesar Pina, was arrested in New Jersey on a federal wire fraud charge. DJ Envy often promoted Pina on his “Breakfast Club” radio show as a real estate mogul. Victims of the scam say that DJ Envy’s celebrity prompted them to invest money with Cesar, as they trusted DJ Envy. They were given promises of huge returns on their investment dollars, often to receive nothing in return. Pina is accused of running a Ponzi-like scheme. This is most likely a classic “street” maneuver of “flipping money.” Cesar Pina is accused of pocketing over $17 million in total from just four properties. The extent of the alleged fraud is unknown as of yet. Pina pleaded not guilty and was released on a $1 million secured bond with electronic monitoring.
