Hillary Clinton recently appeared on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show to promote her upcoming book and to give Americans a little advice about Joe Biden. The former Presidential candidate told Maddow that Americans have been confused and jaded by the political process. This confusion, in Clinton’s mind, has caused people to misunderstand the progress that Biden has made. She says that Americans should appreciate what the President has done and what he continues to try and do. After all, the “Build Back Better” deal will address highly important issues like income inequality and climate change. The last little bit comes off as a joke but unfortunately, Hillary was very serious when she said it.
The MSNBC interview actually went in quite a few directions. One may say it was the type of interview that Joe Biden himself should get instead of a former Presidential candidate who never became President but that is a different story. Here is a transcript of the particular piece of the interview where Hillary was speaking about appreciating Joe Biden.
HILLARY CLINTON: Democracy is messy. People got kind of frustrated looking at the messy process of legislation. They didn’t really appreciate that within a year, the Biden administration has passed two major pieces of legislation through both the House and Senate. They’ve passed another major piece through the House that will soon be in the Senate. By any measure, those are extraordinary accomplishments and they will help millions of Americans with health care and prescription drug prices, as well as climate change and so much else. But because of the way we are getting our information today and lack of gatekeepers, and people who have a historic perspective who can help us understand what we are seeing, there is a real vulnerability in the electorate to the kind of demagoguery and disinformation that the other side is really good at exploiting.
Hillary Clinton’s explanation of why Americans should appreciate Joe Biden solely relies on the “good” things she wants to highlight. The mainstream media generally highlight these same things. The problem is that the American people actually see things differently on the ground. She attempted to blame alternative media that does not have gatekeepers (liberal hall monitors) attached to them to filter information. Americans are rejecting the gatekeepers because they are beginning to realize that mainstream media consistently presents narratives that differ from their everyday lived experiences.
Americans understand that no matter how much MSNBC wants to say otherwise, inflation is a serious problem. There is no way a gatekeeper can convince a person that spending more of their money to buy goods and services is actually a good thing. Liberal lapdogs like Bernie Sanders constantly harp about taxing billionaires (although before he became a millionaire he used to want to tax them as well). But then news breaks of the IRS wanting to conduct over one million audits of people making below $75,000 per year. The Biden administration supports toxic ideologies like Critical Race Theory and gender fluidity being taught to children. The Government wants to spend billions more dollars on a healthcare system that has only gotten progressively worse ever since Government had a larger role in it. There is no need to watch Fox News or any other “non-gatekeeper” programming to observe simple reality.
