Joe Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2020 Presidential election. He has what can only be described as an uphill battle to fight against the incumbent, President Donald Trump.
Many factors contribute to this process being difficult for him. Money is an issue here. Joe Biden has not been a great fundraiser. Maybe the Democratic party being fractured into small factions (read “the squad” ) has something to do with it. Then there is the age gap between Biden (77) and young, new Democratic voters.
Elephant in the room is Joe Biden’s health. He is simply… not well. And it’s not just due to his age. Bernie Sanders is actually one year older than Biden and had a heart attack recently. He is, however, able to go on stage and speak coherently. Joe Biden cannot do that at this current point in time.
Cognitive decline is a big, flashing red flag for any Presidential Candidate. How is it possible for the leader of the free world to barely understand who he is or where he is? And if Biden’s decline is apparent right now when he is doing no campaigning, no fundraising or anything… then how will he look by election time? Not good.
Democrats don’t really appear to care about the man. They know he is ill. Biden’s health is irrelevant because the primary objective is to try and get as many votes as possible. Biden is the man that they think can make that happen. With the Democratic party being in such disarray, Biden could get more support than any of his liberal colleagues and still lose in dramatic, Walter Mondale 1984 fashion.
