Kyle Rittenhouse Found Not Guilty Of All Charges

Kyle Rittenhouse has been found not guilty on all charges stemming from an incident that happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin back in August of 2020. Rittenhouse’s defense team has always claimed self-defense as the reason why he had to shoot three people, killing one. The trial has captivated the nation and parts of the world due to the Black Lives Matter protest happening in Kenosha at the time. Politicians and mainstream media alike initially pounced on this story as a way to prove their “dangerous white male” and “scary AR-15 gun” narratives. All detractors and nay-sayers have been proven wrong by way of this verdict.

Rittenhouse was facing several charges relating to the deaths of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum as well as the injury to Gaige Grosskreutz. The state argued that Rittenhouse illegally possessed a long rifle and shot people unlawfully. The presiding judge in the case wound up throwing the gun charge out because it is not illegal for a 17-year-old to open carry a long gun in Wisconsin. In order for Rittenhouse to be found guilty of the other charges, the prosecution had to convince the jury that he provoked the attacks on him. If the jury was not convinced of provocation then the only other alternative is to say that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense. Ultimately, the jury found Rittenhouse not guilty on all charges, therefore, asserting the original self-defense claim from the defense.
