META Cancels All Original Programming, Including Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk”

Facebook (META) has cancelled all original “Facebook Watch” programming, including the controversial “Red Table Talk.” The show was hosted by Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. She was joined on the show by her daughter, Willow, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris. “Red Table Talk” lasted for four seasons. Quite a few controversial, maybe even “toxic” moments arose from the show. The infamous interview between Jada and Will that spawned the term “entanglement” happened here.

Jada cheated on Will with one of her son’s friends, a singer named August Alsina. He went public with the affair and that caused Jada to respond. Will had already known about this, so Jada’s reaction was to bring on Will to express his feelings about the situation. This interview is widely seen as one of the most embarrassing things to happen to a man on television. At one point, Will was asking her to be direct about what she did with Alsina. She referred to her relationship with the 20-something singer as an “entanglement.” That term went viral immediately afterward.

Although Facebook is canceling “Red Table Talk”, the show’s producer says that there is still hope for the show. It is being shopped around to other potential homes. Jada Pinkett Smith says on social media that the staff of “Red Table” will “see you soon”.
