New York Will Stop Prosecuting Kids Under 12 For Most Crimes In 2023

Starting in 2023, New York State will stop prosecuting kids under the age of 12 for any crime except homicide. Kathy Hochul signed this bill into law earlier in the year. It is not quite clear what the actual intended goal of this law is aside from what they have stated. The goal of New York legislators is to help children when they commit crimes from social worker types instead of police. This sounds like a good idea on paper to those who have no idea how juvenile criminals behave. To people who do understand this dynamic, a law like this simply gives gangs and other criminal organizations further incentive to recruit very young men to carry out acts of violence for money.
