The Trial of Derek Chauvin for the Death Of George Floyd Begins

Former police officer Derek Chauvin’s trial for the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis has begun. Mr. Floyd died while being arrested after police were called on him for attempting to pass a fake $20 to a store owner. Other officers were on the scene of the arrest, but the attention is being placed on Chauvin due to the now-infamous knee that he placed on George Floyd’s neck as a form of restraint.

Black Lives Matter ferociously rose from the proverbial ashes of the 2016 election season as a result of Floyd’s death. BLM and BLM-type groups raised a grand total of $10.6 billion dollars in the six months or so afterward. Dave Chappelle even came out with a “comedy” special called “8:46”, referencing the amount of time Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd’s neck. So now that the trial has begun, all eyes are on Minnesota.
