California Attorney General Rob Bonta “accidentally” doxxed every citizen of his state who happens to be a concealed carry permit holder. “Doxxing” is a term that refers to personal information about a person being released on the internet without consent. This information includes names, phone numbers, addresses, and more.
The “mistake” happened after AG Bonta released a new “firearms data” website in an attempt to increase transparency and information sharing for gun safety. For some inexplicable reason, this website contained a public, searchable database of every single concealed carry permit holder in the state of California. After an immediate outcry, the website was taken down. The damage, however, may have already been done. Bad actors and generally unscrupulous people wouldn’t have needed much time to find the information that they were seeking.
