Andrew Gillum, the former Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate from Florida, recently came out as bisexual on the Tamron Hall Show. His revelation comes months after a dramatic scene that unfolded in a Miami hotel room. Police were called to the room on a suspected drug overdose. Andrew Gillum and two other men, one of whom is a gay male escort, were found in the room. Gillum and the escort were both in an intoxicated state. Methamphetamines and other pills were discovered in the hotel room.
From The Beginning
Gillum is a married man with three children. His wife, R. Jai Gillum, was present with him during the Tamron Hall interview. She alluded to knowing that Andrew was bisexual throughout their 20-year marriage and that it was their personal “covenant” as other married couples have. Meaning, she did not want the details of their relationship to get out to the public. It is not quite clear if she knew about the drugs and the gay male escort in Miami, though.
Coming out as gay appears to be a shield of virtue for Andrew Gillum. In today’s modern age, an adult’s sexuality is not necessarily a deciding factor on whether a person is accepted by society or not. If a person is gay and they are an active participant in the “LGBT” community, then that can yield benefits. So rather than owning up to any wrongdoing, Gillum can simply say he’s LGBT and let the story focus on that rather than the elephant in the room.
Diversionary Tactics
Gillum appears to be using the Kevin Spacey defense. Three years ago, an actor by the name of Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexual assault and/or harassment from an incident that took place when Rapp was 14-years-old Spacey was well into his adult years at the time. Rather than addressing the sexual misconduct allegations levied against him, Spacey recorded a dramatic video of himself coming out as gay. Although the revelation is real, the purpose of the revelation is false. The purpose is to distract from the greater issue as to not discuss it and sweep it under the rug.
Andrew Gillum hinted towards another try at politics in the future. He even invoked Donald Trump’s name to use him as an example of anyone being able to succeed in politics. But then he bashed Trump which was simply another diversionary tactic. Andrew Gillum’s sexuality is unimportant. What is important are the lies, deception, and dangerous lifestyle that Gillum is or was leading.
